MOMENTS IN LIFE

There are moments in life when you miss someone
so much that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real!

When the door of happiness closes, another opens;
but often times we look so long at the
closed door that we don't see the one,
which has been opened for us.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
because it takes only a smile to
make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be,
because you have only one life
and one chance to do all the things
you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human and
enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily
have the best of everything;
they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always
be based on a forgotten past;
you can't go forward in life until
you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying
and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end,
you're the one who is smiling and everyone
around you is crying.

Don't count the years-count the memories...........

Brighten Someone's day by sharing this poem!
Someone who means something to you
Someone who has touched your life in one way or another;
Someone who makes you smile when you really need it;
Someone who makes you see the brighter side of things when you are
really
down;
Someone whose friendship you appreciate!

DARE TO BE

When a new day begins,
dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness,
dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice,
dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult,
dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down,
dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope,
dare to find some.

When you're feeling tired,
dare to keep going.

When times are tough,
dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you,
dare to love again.

When someone is hurting,
dare to help them heal.

When another is lost,
dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls,
dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another,
dare to make them smile.

When you feel great,
dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended,
dare to feel as you've done your best.

Dare to be the best you can -
At all times, Dare to be!

With a Little Help from My Friends

I was sitting in a train, waiting for it to start. Across from me sat
a small boy, asking questions as children do. He asked his
mother, "When will the train start?"

I saw my chance and volunteered to answer. I said, "The train will
start when we start pushing."

The child opened his big eyes in surprise, "Really?" "Of
course," I said. "Unless we push, it doesn't start."

"Then let's push," he exclaimed.

"Just a minute," I said. "The passengers are not all on.
I'll tell you when to push."

I watched for the signal light at the station and heard the
station master's shrill whistle. Then I shouted to the boy, "Now!
Push for all you're worth."

He and I started to push in the direction of the engine. We pushed
and pushed against the back of the seat .... and soon a contented
smile lit up the boy's face. The train was moving ... very slowly at
first, but then gaining speed little by little.

I congratulated the lad on his success. "We DID it! We DID it!

"Wasn't that great?" he exclaimed. He looked immensely pleased
with himself. He was traveling in a train he had helped to start. I did
not have the heart to tell him about the monstrous engine chugging up
in front. Eventually he would find out for himself...

We usually attribute great success to our little actions, forgetting
that behind them all is that almighty unseen power called God, whose
power often makes us look powerful.

Peace On Stormy Seas

I sailed upon a tranquil sea
Where all was peace and calm;
I felt my life serene and blessed,
I knew not storm or qualm.

Then clouds of doubt began to form,
The wind did stir and blow;
My tranquil sea did heave and toss,
I felt my anguish grow.

I cried, "Dear Lord, are you out there?
You see my ship storm-tossed?
Why do you leave me here alone?
I fear I may be lost."

God smiled and spoke these simple words,
"Peace my child, just be still;
I'm the God of the raging sea,
The waves obey my will."

"Hook your anchor onto 'The Rock'
That holds your vessel sure.
No evil can alarm you child,
I'll keep your life secure."

"No harm will touch you if you trust
And place your faith in me;
Your storm-tossed ship will once again
Sail on a tranquil sea."

"So do not fear the storms of life
That oft assail your soul;
I am the Master of the Sea,
I'm always in control."

"The storms will surely strengthen you
When on rough seas you sail,
For you will know the victory
That comes when you prevail."

That' Life

What life is all about,
Is the question we wonder,
In all our living days,
And still continue to ponder.

We know life is beautiful,
We know life is wonderful,
We know life is the most
What we take from it.

Life is a dilemma,
There is no definite way to chose
But with a positive attitude
We have nothing to lose.

Life is a bundle of happiness
And sometimes a cluster of sorrow,
But one has to live it to the fullest,
And look forward for tomorrow.

We got everything free
So why do we crave
To get more and more
But still people do struggle
Till in the grave.

Make the most out of life,
Live the life to the fullest,
Whether rich or poor,
And increase the passion of living

THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE OF THE PRAYING HANDS

Back in the fifteenth century, in a tiny village near Nuremberg, lived a
family with eighteen children. Eighteen! In order merely to keep food on
the
table for this mob, the father and head of the household, a goldsmith by
profession, worked almost eighteen hours a day at his trade and any
other
paying chore he could find in the neighbourhood.

Despite their seemingly hopeless condition, two of Albrecht Durer the
Elder's children had a dream. They both wanted to pursue their talent
for
art, but they knew full well that their father would never be
financially
able to send either of them to Nuremberg to study at the Academy.
After many long discussions at night in their crowded bed, the two boys
finally worked out a pact. They would toss a coin. The loser would go
down
into the nearby mines and, with his earnings, support his brother while
he
attended the academy. Then, when that brother who won the toss completed
his
studies, in four years, he would support the other brother at the
academy,
either with sales of his artwork or, if necessary, also by laboring in
the
mines.

They tossed a coin on a Sunday morning after church. Albrecht Durer won
the
toss and went off to Nuremberg. Albert went down into the dangerous
mines
and, for the next four years, financed his brother, whose work at the
academy was almost an immediate sensation. Albrecht's etchings, his
woodcuts, and his oils were far better than those of most of his
professors,
and by the time he graduated, he was beginning to earn considerable fees
for
his commissioned works.

When the young artist returned to his village, the Durer family held a
festive dinner on their lawn to celebrate Albrecht's triumphant
homecoming.
After a long and memorable meal, punctuated with music and laughter,
Albrecht rose from his honoured position at the head of the table to
drink
a toast to his beloved brother for the years of sacrifice that had
enabled
Albrecht to fulfil his ambition. His closing words were, "And now,
Albert,
blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to
Nuremberg
to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you." All heads turned in
eager expectation to the far end of the table where Albert sat, tears
streaming down his pale face, shaking his lowered head from side to side
while he sobbed and repeated, over and over, "No..no ...no ...no."

Finally, Albert rose and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He glanced
down
the long table at the faces he loved, and then, holding his hands close
to
his right cheek, he said softly, "No, brother. I cannot go to Nuremberg.
It
is too late for me. Look ...look what four years in the mines have done
to
my hands! The bones in every finger have been smashed at least once, and
lately I have been suffering from arthritis so badly in my right hand
that I
cannot even hold a glass to return your toast, much less make delicate
lines
on parchment or canvas with a pen or a brush. No, brother ... for me it
is
too late."

More than 450 years have passed. By now, Albrecht Durer's hundreds of
masterful portraits, pen and silver-point sketches, watercolors,
charcoals,
woodcuts, and copper engravings hang in every great museum in the world,
but
the odds are great that you, like most people, are familiar with only
one of
Albrecht Durer's works. More than merely being familiar with it, you
very
well may have a reproduction hanging in your home or office.
One day, to pay homage to Albert for all that he had sacrificed,
Albrecht
Durer painstakingly drew his brother's abused hands with palms together
and
thin fingers stretched skyward. He called his powerful drawing simply
"Hands," but the entire world almost immediately opened their hearts to
his
great masterpiece and renamed his tribute of love "The Praying Hands."
The next time you see a copy of that touching creation, take a second
look.
Let it be your reminder,if you still need one, that no one - no one - -
ever
makes it alone!

Moral:- Behind every masterpiece there is toil and hard work by a team -
no
one can ever make it alone and hence team spirit is very very essential.

The Duck

A beautiful message that proves a loving point!

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was
given
a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods,
but he
could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back
for
dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse,
he
let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it.
He
was
shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile,
only
to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes."
But
Sally said, Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen."
Then
she
whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing.
Grandma
said, "I'm sorry, but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just
smiled
and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to
help."
She
whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny
stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's he
finally
couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed the he
had
killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said,
"Sweetheart,
I know.
You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But
because
I
love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let
Sally
make a
slave of you."

Thought for the day and every day thereafter:

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done, the devil keeps
throwing
it up in your face (lying, debt, fear, hatred, anger, unforgiveness,
bitterness,
etc.)

whatever it is, you need to know that God was standing at the window and
He
saw the whole thing, He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know
that
He
loves you and that you are forgiven.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.
The
great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only
forgives you, but He forgets.

Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today.

RAIN O' RAIN

Rain O' rain in distress and pain I wait to wash my ills
I pray to God, and He agrees His mercy thus spills

Your spell grooms this earth, Nature bestows you ornaments
Love and warmth awaits you her , with only evil left to lament

You saunter in style, the melody, the rhythm, none compares to it
You wear the anklets of Nature perhaps and dance with tap to add to it

Your realm is bounteous, in every drop you encase the sun
Or close thy eyes on its encounter and glitters escape in fun

Thou mate breeze is blessed, she plays with you she runs you catch
Your scarf of grey and silver flutters this game can have no match

Fragrance envelopes the earth and sky, you meet to kiss the ground
And Bosoms wake to catch a glimpse, of love that Nature bounds

Your charm cripples my mind it's flight words get lost, sentences blast
No proof of it in hymns or prose though natal love for you I brought

You go to rest in Heavens above, your comfort's mine I do not mind
But not for long I cannot live and nor the life behind

Rain O' rain far away never again stay
I love you hard we can't apart but death can pave the way

Rain O' rain!! in Nature's lap don't stay for long
I'll strive to prune this world our rendezvous should prolong

Another

Another sunrise, a fresh new game
Another day goes down, feels none the same
Another sunset I see, extinguishing flame
Another night I live, sleep I tame.

Another wind blows, rushes through my hair
Another river flows, wetting my feet
Another song I hear, words ring in my ear
Another road I cross, a new friend I meet.

Another child I see, reminding of innocence
Another mischief I hear, blissful ignorance
Another flower blooms, adding to the fragrance
Another protest I perceive, momentary annoyance.

Another drop of rain, drenching my soul
Another bolt of lightning, shivering me whole
Another mud puddle, soiling the shoe sole
Another hail stone, I find hidden near a bole.

Another happy moment, treasured in my heart
Another sweet taste, overpowers the tart
Another union, things never be apart
Another smooth ride, disappears every thwart.

Another mirthful laugh, after a behaviour riled
Another vivid memory, thoughts unfiled
Another joyous hour, happiness piled
Another thankful prayer, for upon me God smiled.

I know you hear me but you are not willing to make amends
I know you hear me but you are too busy to care
I know you hear me but you are too selfish to share
I know you hear me but you are too broken to understand
I know you hear me but you never say a word
I know you hear me but you are too blind to fully see
I know you hear me but you never forgive
I know you hear me but you never forget
I know you hear me but I want you to listen!I want you to truly care!
I want you to be whole!

WORTH READING 15 April 2005

Beginning Today

Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday. It is in the
past
and the past will never change. Only I can change by choosing to do so.

Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will
always
be there, waiting for me to make the most of it. But I cannot make the
most of tomorrow without first making the most of today.

Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will see a person worthy
of my respect and admiration. This capable person looking back at me is
someone
I enjoy spending time with and someone I would like to get to know
better.

Beginning today I will cherish each moment of my life. I value the gift
bestowed upon me in this world and I will unselfishly share this gift
with
others.

Beginning today I will take a moment to step off the beaten path and to
revel in the mysteries I encounter. I will face challenges with courage
and determination. I will overcome what barriers there may be which
hinder
my quest for growth and self- improvement.

Beginning today I will take life one day at a time, one step at a time.
Discouragement will not be allowed to taint my positive self-image, my
desire to succeed or my capacity to love.

Beginning today I walk with renewed faith in human kindness. Regardless
of what has gone before. I believe there is hope for a brighter and
better
future.

Beginning today I will open my mind and my heart. I will welcome new
experiences. I will meet new people. I will not expect perfection from
myself nor anyone else: perfection does not exist in an imperfect world.
But I will applaud the attempt to overcome human foibles.

Beginning today I am responsible for my own happiness and I will do
things
that make me happy... admire the beautiful wonders of nature, listen to
my favorite music, pet a kitten or a puppy, soak in a bubble bath...
Pleasure
can be found in the most simple of gestures.

Beginning today I will learn something new; I will try something
different;
I will savor all the various flavors life has to offer. I will change
what
I can and the rest I will let go. I will strive to become the best me I
can
possibly be.

Beginning Today, And Everyday.

The Promise

There's a promise in our sorrow
and a blessing when we sigh.
There's a light beyond the shadows
and a cleansing when we cry.

So when we are discouraged,
and face tremendous grief;
it is during those times of trouble,
that the heavens send relief.

With our heart in tune with Jesus,
our source of joy and peace,
be mindful of His promise,
that all suffering He would cease.

He's cried our tears of sadness;
He's felt our every pain,
He's walked our path before,
all glory to His name.

Just listen for the spirit,
as it whispers to be still,
for there is joy and comfort
beyond sad Calvary's hill.

So if the sky should darken
and if the earth should quake,
remember life has struggles
on the journey that we take.

The aftermath of sorrow
is beauty and pure light,
if we can fight the battle
and pray with soul and might.

He sent us rainbow colors
to follow cleansing rain,
He showed us there are miracles
that come with all the pain.

Seek forbearance in the hardships,
or when we fear or roam.
Cast your burdens on the Savior,
and He'll come and take us home.

For He is our great Redeemer
our only true best friend,
He promised He would never leave,
He'll guide us to the end.

Time Well Spent
-- Ralph Marston

What if you could decide, at the beginning of each day, exactly how your
time would be allocated that day? How many minutes, or hours, would you
allocate for being angry, resentful, envious, frustrated, or consumed
with
spite? Probably not any. It would seem foolish to block off any of your
precious time for such useless and destructive pursuits.
And yet, during the course of each day most people let these things eat
away
at time that could otherwise be focused in more positive directions.
Think
about it. Does that make any sense at all?

The fact is, you can decide each day how your time will be spent. You
can
decide not to let yourself automatically react negatively. You can
decide to
devote all your priceless time to positive, fulfilling pursuits. You
control
your thoughts. You control your behavior.

Before you automatically react to something, ask yourself, "This morning
when planning my day, would I ever have decided to devote my time to
this?"
You cannot control what happens to you, but you most certainly can
control
what you do about it.

Make each response a positive, productive one and enjoy the immense
benefits
of time well spent.

I Found God Today

I found God today in the eyes of a child
He looked up at me and gave me a smile
He gave me such comfort for which I had longed
Through the eyes of a child I realized I belonged

I found God today in an old woman's face
As she held my hand I felt God's embrace
From problems in life I knew I would prevail
Which I felt through her hands so old and so frail

I found God today in the warmth of a friend
Who has given me strength for which I can depend
When life had me down and I felt so depressed
I realized through my friend just how much I was blessed

I found God today when I searched for so long
And I've come to realize he'd been there all along
In family and friends, and those each day I see
Each day I find God, and now I've found him in me

WORTH READING 1 April 2005

Your Beautiful Life
- by Ellen M. DuBois

God decided in Heaven one day-
that you should be born in a wonderful way.
He chose your parents- their elements right-
to create a special 'You'. What a beautiful sight.

There's no one on earth exactly like you-
a miracle of life in all that you do.
Sometimes we lose sight of the beauty we have.
We don't see any good- only the bad.

We start out our lives with the world in our hands,
but, as we grow older, forget what's been planned.
We feel lost and confused- unloved and alone
and sometimes our hearts feel hardened- like stone.

We almost get blinded by our saddened thoughts-
'till we no longer see what we've really got.
We get numb to the love of our family and friends-
we can't see the hope, the future- just the end.

These words said to you in the hope you'll achieve-
fall upon ears that no longer believe-
that YOU are so special- a star in the night-
who shines in His glory, your own special light.

You feel so unworthy, but you don't know why
and you search for the answers which just makes you cry.
Sometimes you need someone to help sort it out-
someone who will listen- to whom you can shout:

"I feel disconnected, sad and unsure.
I just don't know what to do anymore.
I know deep inside that there's got to be hope,
but right now I just feel at the end of my rope."

"Help me find the answers. Help me find my way.
Plant my feet on the road of happiness today.
Help me learn how to deal with feeling so lost-
that there's no price for love- there isn't a cost."

And though you feel frightened, scared and alone-
it's just like you've called your friend God on the phone.
He'll lean into your ear and He'll whisper these words-
forever in truth- the most wonderful heard:

"You need to believe that you're worth more than this-
and I'll help you climb out of your dark abyss.
With time and with love you will figure it out-
and I'll always be there, loving you- have no doubt."

"The love of your family and friends just for you-
will mean so much more when you know I am True.
But, first you must learn how to love who you are.
Believe as I do- you're a bright, shining star."
