WORTH READING 1 Sep 2006

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with Rs
86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day; allows you to keep
no cash balance; every night deletes whatever part of the balance you
failed to use during the day. What would you do with such an account
Draw out every penny, of course!!!

Every one of us has such a 'bank'. Its name is TIME. Every morning it
credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost
whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries
over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records
of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against tomorrow. You must
live in the present -on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it
the utmost in health, happiness and success!
The clock is running. Make the most of today!! And make it a great week
ahead!!

The Expert Mind
-By samzenpus on nurture-wins-this-time

Vicissidude writes "Teachers in sports, music, and other fields tend to believe that talent matters and that they know it when they see it. In fact, they appear to be confusing ability with precocity. There is usually no way to tell, from a recital alone, whether a young violinist's extraordinary performance stems from innate ability or from years of Suzuki-style training. The preponderance of psychological evidence indicates that experts are made, not born. In fact, it takes approximately a decade of heavy labor to master any field. Even child prodigies, such as Gauss in mathematics, Mozart in music, and Bobby Fischer in chess, must have made an equivalent effort, perhaps by starting earlier and working harder than others. It is no coincidence that the incidence of chess prodigies multiplied after László Polgár published a book on chess education. The number of musical prodigies underwent a similar increase after Mozart's father did the equivalent two centuries earlier."

Written and Composed by Glen Ballard, Siedah Garrett and Michael
Jackson.
Produced by Michael Jackson.

If You Call Out Loud
Will It Get Inside
Through The Heart Of Your Surrender
To Your Alibis
And You Can Say The Words
Like You Understand
But The Power's In Believing
So Give Yourself
A Chance

'Cause You Can
Climb The Highest Mountain
Swim The Deepest Sea, Hee
All You Need Is The Will To Want It
And Uhh, Little Self-Esteem

So Keep The Faith
Don't Let Nobody Turn You 'Round
You Gotta Know When It's Good To Go
To Get Your Dreams Up Off The Ground

Keep The Faith, Baby, Yea
Because It's Just A Matter Of Time
Before Your Confidence Will Win Out
Believe In Yourself No Matter What It's Gon' Take
You Can Be A Winner
But You Got To Keep The Faith

...Gon' Keep It Brother
You Got It
And When You Think Of Trust
Does It Lead You Home
To A Place That You Only Dream Of When You're All Alone
And You Can Go By Feel
'Stead Of Circumstance
But The Power's In Beliving
So Give Yourself A Chance

I Know That You Can
Sail Across The Water
Float Across The Sky, High
Any Road That You Take Will Get You There
If You Only Try

So Keep The Faith, Ow
Don't Let Nobody Take You Down, Brother
Just Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
And Your Feet Flat On The Ground
Keep The Faith, Baby, Yea
Because It's Just A Matter Of Time
Before Your Confidence Will Win Out

I Told My Brother How To Do The Thing Right
Lift Up Your Head And Show The World You Got Pride
Go For What You Want, Don't Let 'Em Get In Your Way
You Can Be A Winner,
But You Got To Keep The Faith
Gon' Keep It Brother
You Got It
I Know That Keepin' The Faith
Means Never Givin' Up On Love
But The Power That Love Has
To Make It Right
Makes It
Makes It Right

Keep The Faith
Don't Let Nobody Turn You 'Round Brother
You Got To Know When It's Good To Go
To Get Your Dreams Up Off The Ground
Keep The Faith
Baby, Yea
Because It's Just A Matter Of Time
Before Your Confidence Will Win Out

Better Stand Up And Act Like You Wanna Do Right
Don't Play The Fool For The Rest Of Your Life
Work On It Brother And You'll Make It Someday
Go For What You Want And Don't Forget The Faith
Look At Yourself And What You're Doin' Right Now
Stand Back A Minute Just To Check Yourself Out
Straighten Out Your Life And How You're Livin' Each Day
Get Yourself Together, 'Cause You Got To Keep The Faith
Uh, Uh, Uh

Don't Let Nobody Take You Down, Brother
Just Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
And Your Feet Flat On The Ground
Keep The Faith, Baby, Yea
Because It's Just A Matter Of Time
Before Your Confidence Will Win Out
Lift Up Your Mind
Before Your Mind Gets Blown
Some Things In Life You Best Just Leave Them Alone
Go For What You Want
Don't Let It Get In Your Way
You Can Make It Happen
But Ya Got Ta Keep The Faith

Gon' Keep It Brother
You Got To Keep The Faith
Yeah Keep The Faith
Gon' Keep It Sister
You Got To Keep The Faith Now, Now

I'll Show My Brotha
How To Do The Thing Right
Lift Up Your Head And Show The World You Got Pride
Go For What You Want
Don't Let 'Em Get In Your Way
You Can Be A Winner If You Keep The Faith

Straighten Out Yourself And Get Your Mind On Track
Dust Off Your Butt And Get Your Self-Respect Back
You've Known Me Long Enough To Know That I Don't Play
Take It Like You Want It But You Got To Keep The Faith
Gon'

Don't Let Nobody Take You Down
Just Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
And Get Your Feet Back On The Ground
Keep The Faith, Baby, Yea
Because It's Lust A Matter Of Time
Before Your Confidence Will Win Out

But Till That Day
I Said You've Got To Keep The Faith!

Good Thoughts

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right
one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to
be grateful for that gift.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we
look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been
opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing
with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's
also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you
back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their
heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a
minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to
love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that
fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a
smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart
smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just
want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want
to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the
things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make
you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you
happy.

Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it
probably hurts the other person, too.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have
searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the
importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a
smile, grows with a
kiss and ends with a tear. The brightest future will always be based on
a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your
past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and
everyone around you is crying.

Joy in Life

Joy does not come about as the result of agreeable circumstances. Joy
is, rather, a powerful and reliable cause of agreeable circumstances.
There's no need to wait for things to be just right before you begin to
enjoy them. Instead, enjoy what is, and that joy will begin to transform
what is into what you would like it to be.

Have you ever wondered why some people always seem to enjoy the best
that life has to offer? It's not really because more good things come
their way, but rather because they find and enjoy the good in whatever
does come their way.

Imagine how very much more effective your work would be if it was done
with sincere joy in your heart. Consider how much more richly you could
relate with others if you consistently did so from a perspective of joy.

Rather than looking for something to be joyful about, look for things,
for people, for situations to be joyful upon. Let joy freely flow from
you and you'll find that there's always plenty of joy around you.

Treasure Of Life

There are treasures in life,
but owners are few
Of money and power
to buy things brand new.

Yet you can be wealthy
and feel regal too,
If you will just look
for the treasures in you.

These treasures in life
are not hard to find
When you look in your heart,
your soul, and your mind.

For when you are willing
to share what's within,
Your fervent search
for riches will end.

The joy and the laughter,
the smile that you bring;
The heart unafraid
to love and to sing;

The hand always willing
to help those in need;
Ones quick to reach out,
to labor and fee.

So thank you for sharing
these great gifts inside;
The caring, the cheering,
the hug when one cried.

Thanks for the energy,
encouragement too,
And thank you for sharing
the treasures in you.

Life Is Hard

Life's hard to live and still people make it harder to live. Just living
for right takes so much, that I wonder how people have time to do wrong,
foolish things, to make life more complicated.

Everyday is a duty, one hundred things to do and think of, you have your
family, your friends, your work, your home, your God, all to tend to in
twenty four hours. You oversee cooking, cleaning, clothing. You have
your daily prayer schedule or temple to go to, you have the needs of
father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Children to tend to. No one day is like
the other, many of the surprises are unwelcome.

We live each day working hard not knowing what tomorrow will bring. We
have a life to live and to live it righteously takes a lot, each day.
Morning to night is gone in no time. There is money to manage and just
when you have managed to save the rare bit something unexpected comes
along and you have to give it away.

You pay for your health, eat right, live right, spend to be healthy and
then unexpectedly something small, something stupid comes up and big
money goes, your days go. your whole schedule goes. Life is so
unexpected. You just about have time to be with the ones you love and
you live in that fragile stage because you never know when the ones you
love will go. We are busy living hard lives and we don't have choice but
to live it.

And so far I have just dealt with the external requirements our Life
demands. There are more important ones - the internal needs. We have so
much to deal with everyday. Life by the time you are thirty is packed.

Disappointments, sad memories, regrets, past issues, people who went
away, something is always on your mind. something is always tugging at
our heart strings. We have to clear our old deeds of another life-time
and we have to make sure we succeed in this because it is the main
reason of our lives, we have to undo all the wrong we have done in this
lifetime because then we never knew better, we have to come to terms
with certain things of our life, let go of other things, we have to make
peace with the war, we have to end wars and we have to live with us, the
us that no one knows.

Life can be so difficult, it is for almost all. Yet we are blessed to
able to go on for without the Blessing of God and His kingdom could we
manage any of this? We have no control over our lives yet we live it.,
we have no weapons against diseases yet we go on not thinking about it,
we have the old to take care of, the ill to look after, the additional
difficult new twists and turns to manage our daily life. suddenly there
can be a major change, suddenly there can be a major illness, suddenly
there can be a death and it has happened to many. But we continue to
live on. For, to live on righteously is all we are called to do.

Which is why I wonder how those who are not like us manage to live the
reckless and careless lives? yes Life is struggle , hardship, sweat,
work, and everything you don't want to hear. this is Life and sooner we
accept it, the better.

Life is difficult, our loved ones do fall ill, they will die someday,
money is a hassle, everyday living does make demands, anything happens
anytime, we don't know anything. And the unnecessary trouble human add
to our journey: deceptions, greed, backbiting, manipulations, hurt. What
can we do??

Nothing, move away from what we can move away from and continue no
matter what the distractions and disturbances to live righteously the
way we have committed to. It is a tough road but it id our road.

We don't want it easy, we only want goodness, honor, decency, the
ability to fulfill our duties, claim our soul's belongings, love who we
love, live small, live well, live honestly. We have many like us on this
path, they've made it, we will too. We have a duty towards Life and
never mind the millions who make it easy by taking the unrighteous path,
we will live here.

In my book of Life, really no matter what the difficulty, there is no
other way to live Life than to live it with dignity and duty, Because
that's what then makes it our Life.

Imperfections

No matter how much planning and preparation you do, something will not
turn out the way you wanted it to be. Yet even when those inevitable
disappointments do indeed come, you can adapt and make the very most of
them.

Life is not perfect and yet it can be perfectly wonderful. It's great to
aim for perfection, and even better to achieve excellence in spite of
the imperfections you encounter. When people and situations refuse to
cooperate, you can be amazingly adaptable. You can move toward
excellence even in the most distressing, imperfect scenarios.

Though what you have is not perfect, you can work with it. Accept what
you have, imperfections and all, with gratitude and enthusiasm. Don't
spend your time waiting for the perfect situation, something which is
not very likely
to come. Go ahead with life as it is, with the bumps and the pitfalls,
and give your best to every moment.

Run Through the Rain

She had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6
years old, this beautiful brown haired, freckle-faced image of
innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the
top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the Earth it has no time
to flow down the spout.

We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the
Wal-Mart. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature
messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get
lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and
dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child
come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all
caught in. "Mom, let's run through the rain, she said. What Mom asked.

"Let's run through the rain! She repeated. No honey. We'll wait until it
slows down a bit, Mom replied. This young child waited about another
minute and repeated Mom, let's run through the rain. We'll get soaked if
we do, Mom said. No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this
morning, the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.

"This morning when did I say we could run through the rain and not get
wet Don't you remember When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer,
you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through
anything!"

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything
but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few
minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might
even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a
young child's life. Time, when innocent trust can be nurtured and bloom
into faith. "Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the
rain. If God let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing, Mom
said. Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as
they darted past the cars and, yes, through the puddles. They held their
shopping bags over their heads just in case.

They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and
laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran.
I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your
material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take
away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories.
So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make
memories every day!

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under
heaven. I hope you still take the time to run through the rain.

Attaining Purpose of Life

There are three steps to attain the whole-sole purpose of human life.

Step One: Be Positive Minded

Always bear a positive outlook. Several pessimistic and negative
thoughts might come across your path in this journey towards your goal.
Transform every negative thought to a positive one by using the word
but. If a thought comes to you, I am sad, then immediately transform
this thought into a positive one. Say, I am sad, but if I desire,
I can experience the feeling of bliss here and now itself. If you think
that I cannot do this work, then reframe the thought in this manner I
cannot do this, but with the help of God it can be possible.

Step Two: Be Present Minded

In this step you are required to keep yourself alert about every sound,
every incident, every thought around you, every moment. By doing so, you
will become sensitive about yourself and your surroundings. You will
also get rid of forgetfulness. You shall no more remain absentminded.
Your awareness about the present also will make you aware
about negative emotions or vices in you such as hatred, disgust, anger,
pride, comparison and greed. Thus your mind starts to become pure.
Practice living in the present using all the methods and meditations
that you come across. (Many such exercises are featured in our
newsletters regularly)

Step Three: Be Single Minded

In the third step, you are undisturbed and only focused towards the
whole-sole purpose of your life. Remind yourself of your whole sole
purpose throughout the day. It is the law of life that whatever you are
receptive toward, whatever you focus your attention on, that manifests
in your life. Be single minded about the whole sole purpose of being
established in the centre within where you experience eternal bliss.

Learn To Appreciate

A man raced down the hospital steps one rainy day and jumped into a
passing bus with the remark, "What a beautiful day it is!" The rain was
pouring in torrents, it was dreadfully cold and everyone was bemoaning
the foul weather. The conductor remarked, half amused, "You must be mad,
Mister, to call this a beautiful day."

"You'd be as mad with delight", the man replied with enthusiasm, "If you
also had recovered your sight after three years of blindness."

We should learn to appreciate what we have. Let us enjoy the pleasures
that are ours, instead of pining for those we miss. The following little
verse may be remembered in this context

Winter makes us long for Spring
Darkness for the down;
We always seem to miss them most,
Our playmates when they're gone!

RELATIONSHIP SECRETS

ANNIVERSARIES
Always celebrate! Whether it's the 1st or the 50th, each year together
is a triumph.

APPRECIATION
Let each other know how much you appreciate each other. You may already
know but hearing it from each other is always better.

BEST FRIENDS
Be best friends preferably before being boyfriend-girlfriend. Take time
to know each other so the relationship will be a deep one. Tell each
other about your crushes, dreams and problems. Make sure he/she is your
best friend before getting engaged. The strong bond of friendship will
help you both survive tough times.

BOND
Make it a point to spend time together often but leave room for each
other. Also spend time alone w/ each other, so that at the end of the
day you could both share your experiences. This way, you stay
interesting with your partner.

CHANGING EACH OTHER
Don't marry an as...le, j.... or a bi.... (an unsuitable person) You'll
never change each other.

COMPLIMENTS
Always compliment each other. This will prevent feelings of resentment &
thinking that one is being taken for granted.

DATE
Keep doings things that you both enjoy, do them together. Make time &
continue to date to keep the romance - look good, smell good to maintain
physical attraction

DIFFERENCES
Celebrate differences. Never force your ideologies down each other's
throat. Give up trying to turn your partner into you. Accept
differences, appreciate them.

FIGHTS
Fight w/the aim to resolve the issue. Don't outdo each other. The longer
you extend the fight. The more chances that you'll say something hurtful
that you don't really mean. As mad as you were w/ your partner, he/she
is still the person who laughs at your jokes & thinks you're hot. Hear
each other out, don't dig up old issues. Choose your battles. Make sure
the fight will be worth it & that something will change in the
relationship as a result of the fight.

FLAWS
Know that the perfect person does not exist. Know that just as there are
things that you love about him/her, there will be things that will make
you go crazy. We are only human with our own flaws.

FUN
Have fun together! This means keeping the fun & spontaneity that was
there in the early days.
Allow yourselves to get silly - shower together, pee w/the door open
etc. Being able to make each other laugh & see the lighter, crazier,
absurd side is the best way to get through all the differences in
personalities, adjustments in lifestyle & opposing viewpoints.

GOALS
Make sure you have similar goals. It would be difficult to keep your
bond intact if your views are complete opposite.

GRUDGES
Quit tabulating grudges. Let it off. Discuss it, then trash it, don't
recycle it.

KEEPING IT HOT
Keep it hot by traveling to diff. places together. A new setting will do
wonders. Always have skin contact - be it holding hands, a massage or
just plain leg rubbing.

HONESTY
Don't lie or hide things. The problem will only get bigger.

KNOW EACH OTHER
Learn each other's interest. It really keeps the conversation flowing!

HUG
A hug can be far better more intimate than a kiss.

IDENTITY
Don't lose your personality - that's why he/she fell in love w/you. Have
separate interest & activities to keep your individual, & to be able to
contribute more to the relationship.

INDEPENDENCE
Having your own income means you're the boss in your life.

IN-LAWS
Make rooms for the in-laws.

INTENTIONS
Wish each other well. Don't wish each other worst

ISSUES
Speak up about the awkward stuff now, like money & sex. The earlier, the
better.

LISTEN
Listen, listen, listen. Hear each other out especially during arguments.

LOOK GOOD
Mind your appearance! Stay fit & healthy for each other.

LOVE
It all boils down to your love, chemistry & respect for each other.

MEMORIES
Remind each other of the old days. Do something that you used to do for
each other before. It may even be corny but it made you two together.
Experience new things together- from dining into a new restaurant to
experiencing street food together to exploring to new places. It's the
little surprises that make great memories.

MIND READING
No matter how long you've been together, do not think that you can read
each other's mind.

NEEDS
Be good to yourself, then be good to your partner. That's what love is
all about. Think about your partner. Will it make him/her happy? Will
she/he enjoy it? Consider each other's feelings. Be very attentive &
sensitive to each other's needs, physically & emotionally, that way your
partner learns to do the same for you. Never take your partner for
granted.

PRIORITIES
If one says it's important, then it is! Prioritize each other among
other things!

SPACE
Give each other space. Have dates with your girlfriends, have your boy's
night out. If you can't trust each other with this, then don't get
married.

SORRY
Say sorry when you're wrong.

SURPRISES
No matter how long you've known each other, be open to surprises, both
good or bad.

TEAMWORK
Think for two & always work as a team. Consult each other before making
a decision because everything will always affect both of you. Strengthen
couple power. In many ways, we have to decide based on what is best for
the relationship in favor of our individual selves.

SUPPORT
Support each other's dream. Be willing to follow your passions, support
your partner in his/her decisions & create new ones together. Two heads
are better than one.

TALK
Tell each other's stories. Life goes by so fast & its easy to see how
easily couple can grow apart. Whenever something funny, scary, exciting
or juicy happened to you or to someone you know, tell each other about
it & have your partner do the same. Keep each other in the loop of life,
even by email if you have to.

The Red Rose and the Cactus

One beautiful spring day a red rose blossomed in a forest. Many kinds of
trees and plants grew there. As the rose looked around, a pine tree
nearby said, What a beautiful flower. I wish I was that lovely. Another
tree said, Dear pine, do not be sad, we can not have everything.

The rose turned its head and remarked, It seems that I am the most
beautiful plant in this forest. A sunflower raised its yellow head and
asked, Why do you say that In this forest there are many beautiful
plants. You are just one of them. The red rose replied, I see everyone
looking at me and admiring me. Then the rose looked at a cactus and
said, Look at that ugly plant full of thorns! The pine tree said, Red
rose, what kind of talk is this Who can say what beauty is You have
thorns too.

The proud red rose looked angrily at the pine and said, I thought you
had good taste! You do not know what beauty is at all. You can not
compare my thorns to that of the cactus.

What a proud flower, thought the trees. The rose tried to move its roots
away from the cactus, but it could not move. As the days passed, the red
rose would look at the cactus and say insulting things, like This plant
is useless How sorry I am to be his neighbor.

The cactus never got upset and he even tried to advise the rose, saying,
We weren't created without a purpose. Spring passed, and the weather
became very warm. Life became difficult in the forest, as the plants and
animals needed water and no rain fell. The red rose began to wilt. One
day the rose saw sparrows stick their beaks into the cactus and then fly
away, refreshed. This was puzzling, and the red rose asked the pine tree
what the birds were doing. The pine tree explained that the birds got
water from the cactus. Does it not hurt when they make holes asked the
rose.

Yes, but the cactus does not like to see any birds suffer, replied the
pine. The rose opened its eyes in wonder and said, The cactus has water
Yes you can also drink from it. The sparrow can bring water to you if
you ask the cactus for help.

The red rose felt too ashamed of its past words and behavior to ask for
water from the cactus, but then it finally did ask the cactus for help.
The cactus kindly agreed and the birds filled their beaks with water and
watered the rose's roots. Thus the rose learned a lesson and never
judged anyone by their appearance again. Also we too should learn a
lesson that we should never be too proud of what we do, and never carry
high egos especially in work place, what one has knowledge the other
would not be familiar on tat but we should always be willing to learn
rather than carry our egos.
