The Closest thing to an Angel

How does one compare such Purity? I can only say,
the closest thing to the Angel is the child that looks my way,
How Pure is the heart not yet taken by the world, how lovely is
this smile that is given to me,
watching this child somehow gives me perfect peace.
Stretching out its hands, placing words directed to me,
I dont know what is being said, but I am sure I would agree...

The closest thing to an Angel is sitting at my side,
taking my hand with wonders in his eyes....
I can only imagine what this child has rushing through his mind,
why are these so big, what has happened to mine?.

I almost held an Angel today, well I did hold the closest thing..
He smiled at me, he took my hand, he showed me what I missed...

The Purest heart is always there yet, in time it loses its way
Sometimes it takes a child to bring us back to see
the closest thing to an Angel was once you and me...
