The Little Grape Stem

Once upon a time there was a little grape stem. This stem was so glad to
be
alive... She drank water and minerals from the soil and grew and grew.
She
was young and strong and could manage quite well... all by Herself -- or
so
she thought.

But then, the wind was cruel, the rain was harsh, the snow was not one
bit
understanding, and the little grape stem suffered. She drooped, weak and
suffering.

It would be so easy to stop trying to grow, to stop trying to live. The
grape stem became weak! The winter was long, and the stem was weary.

But then the little grape stem heard a voice. It was another grape stem
calling out to her... Here, reach out... hang on to me. But the stem
hesitated. What would this mean she thought, for you see, the little
stem
had always managed quite well... all by herself.

But then, every so cautiously, she reached out towards the other grape
stem.
See, I can help you it said. Just wind your tendrils about me and I will
help you lift your head. And the little stem trusted... and suddenly she
could stand straight again.

The wind came, and the rain, and the snow, but when it came, the grape
stem
was clinging to many other stems. And although the stems were swayed by
the
wind, frozen by the snow, they stood strongly united to each other. And
in
their group supporting strength they could all smile and grow.

Then, one day the little stem looked down and saw a tiny stem, swaying,
frightened. And 'our' grape stem said, Here, hang on... I will help you.
And
the other little stem reached up to 'our' grape stem, and together all
the
stems grew... leaves budded... flowers bloomed... and finally, grapes
formed... and all the grapes fed many.

Horse-Sense

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a
distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car,
or
is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His
owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for
him.
This alone is amazing.

Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the
source
of the sound, one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the
field. Attached to her bridle is a small bell. It lets her blind
friend
know where she is, so he can follow her.

As one stands and watches these two friends, one sees how she is always
checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly
walk
to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just
because
we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when
we
are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by God and those whom he
places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others
see
God.

This Is Good

An old story is told of a king in Africa who had a close friend with
whom he
grew up. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever
occurred in his life (positive or negative) and remarking, This is good!

One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The
friend
would load and prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently
done
something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun
from
his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off. Examining the
situation the friend remarked as usual, This is good! To which the king
replied, No, this is NOT good! and proceeded to send his friend to jail.

About a year later, the king was hunting in an area that he should have
known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured him and took him to their
village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set up a stake and
bound
him to the stake.

As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the king
was
missing a thumb. Being superstitious, they never ate anyone that was
less
than whole. So untying the king, they sent him on his way. As he
returned
home, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt
remorse
for his treatment of his friend. He went immediately to the jail to
speak
with his friend. You were right, he said, it was good that my thumb was
blown off. And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just
happened.
And so I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad
for
me to do this.

No, his friend replied, This is good!

What do you mean,'This is good' How could it be good that I sent my
friend
to jail for a year

If I had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you.

New Life

I've been sitting around this life for years,
Not enough laughs and too many tears.
Trying to figure out where it all went,
These wasted years that I have spent.

Searching for something to go beyond,
Life's a stone skipping across a pond.
At the last skip, it hits with a splash,
Down the stone sinks, gone in a flash.

Pushing and pulling, it's tearing apart,
Poking and prodding an underused heart.
This dark velvet curtain that hides my soul,
Living this life has taken it's toll.

In a flash of bright light, the curtain is torn,
Tumbling down all tattered and worn.
Revealing new life, a child within,
Born free of hate, of suffering and sin.

Now my eyes see what has never been told,
Striving forth happy, confident and bold.
Into a world that's unfamiliar but friendly,
Into this new life my spirit will send me.

Living and laughing, loving it all,
I stood myself up and answered the call.
The darkness has gone, replaced by the light,
I gave up the darkness with hardly a fight.

I've been sitting around this life for years,
With laughter aplenty and hardly a tear.
Now I can see just where it all went,
Cherish every moment of this new life I've spent.

Beginning to End
- Writen by Lori A. Kerrigan

Our journey begins
after leaving the womb
Into a world of wonder
with much to consume
Choices to be made
some will be right, some will be wrong.
From each will come a lesson learned
Which can help you become strong
Setting for yourself some morals
with a personality all your own
Continuing on forward
not knowing where you're going
Making the best out of
everything it is you've got
Using the wisdom
which you have been taught
For when your journey ends
etched in stone your name will be
Upon a grave for all to go
In loving memory.

Lighting Your Way

If I was one thing, I'd be a candle
Lighting the way so you can handle

Your life easier without woes
Not having to fight with your foes.

I'd help keep you from stumbling over
Things blocking your path to an open door.

If I light your path, life is easier,
Even strong winds, my light will not deter.

No matter what, I'm here for you
To cheer you up when you are blue.

Do not fret when times get tough,
If things look down or kind of rough.

Just remember, I'm always here,
In your heart, close and near.

I will help you out in every way,
Happiness and love in your heart will stay.

Don't blow me out, that's one request
Unless it's me you do detest.

I do not try to hurt anyone
That isn't good or any fun.

But one day you may leave me behind
You may no longer need my light to shine.

If that day comes, go on your way
And I will hope to see you again one day.

If one day, I don't appear,
Do not worry, do not fear

I may be gone, but in your heart
The light I gave you did not depart.

It will be there forever and a day
To always bring happiness and light your way.

Farewell for now, I'm needed elsewhere
If your path grows dark, in your heart, I'm there.

So I'm really not gone, just not seen,
I would not leave, I'm not that mean.

Only one simple request that I must say,
Please, never forget those who lit your way.

Little Candle

Once upon a time a little candle stood in a room filled with other
candles,
most of them much larger and much more beautiful than she was. Some were
ornate and some were rather simple, like herself. Some were white, some
were
blue, some were pink, some were green. She had no idea why she was
there,
and the other candles made her feel rather small and insignificant.

When the sun went down and the room began to get dark, she noticed a
large
man walking toward her with a ball of fire on a stick. She suddenly
realized
that the man was going to set her on fire. No, no!! she cried,
Aaaaagghhh!
Don't burn me, please! But she knew that she could not be heard and
prepared
for the pain that would surely follow.

To her surprise, the room filled with light. She wondered where it came
from
since the man had extinguished his fire stick. To her delight, she
realized
that the light came from herself.

Then the man struck another fire stick and, one by one, lit the other
candles in the room. Each one gave out the same light that she did.

During the next few hours, she noticed that, slowly, her wax began to
flow.
She became aware that she would soon die. With this realization came a
sense
of why she had been created. Perhaps my purpose on earth is to give out
light until I die, she mused. And that's exactly what she did.

Lord created you and I to produce light in a dark world. Like that
little
candle, we all can produce the same amount of light, no matter how small
we
are or what color we might be. But we can't produce light until we
receive
it from an outside source. That source is Lord, the light of the world.

The Perfect Boss

There were about 70 scientists working on a very hectic project. All of
them
were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of
their
boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the
job.

One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I have
promised
to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our
township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm.

His boss replied "OK, You're permitted to leave the office early today"

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As
usual
he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he
felt
he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 PM. Suddenly he
remembered of
the promise he had given to his children.

He looked for his boss,,He was not there. Having told him in the morning

itself, he closed everything and left for home.

Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his
children. He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was
sitting
in the hall and reading magazines.

The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him. His wife
asked
him "Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve
dinner if
you are hungry.

The man replied "If you would like to have coffee, i too will have but
what
about Children ??"
Wife replied "You don't know ?? Your manager came here at 5.15 PM and
has
taken the children to the exhibition "

What had really happened was ... The boss who granted him permission was

observing him working seriously at 5.00 PM. He thought to himself, this
person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children
they
should enjoy the visit to exhibition.

So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition

The boss does not have to do it everytime. But once it is done, loyalty
is
established.

That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their
boss
eventhough the stress was tremendous.

By the way , can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was ????????

He was none other than Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India.

The Humming Bird

Once, long ago, there was a young boy who lived in a distant land called

Tandow. He was a cheerful lad with not a care in the world. A special
friend
had he, the little blue humming bird. Now this little boy don't have a
lot
of great friends, but the little bird and the boy were inseparable
friends.

The boy loved the little humming bird so, he built him a home. The bird
also
loved the boy and would follow him wherever he would go. As time went by

their love grew and grew.

Then one day the young lad met a pretty young girl in school. The girl
had
long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a cute little smile. This was about the

time of the biggest dance of the year. All the boy could think about was
how
he would love to take the girl to the dance. He gathered his courage all
day
and at the end of school confronted the girl and asked her to go with
him to
the dance. Now this young girl was very popular and felt she didn't want
to
be seen with the boy who cared for her so, she did not want to hurt his
feelings and so figured out a way to avoid saying no or yes. she told
the
boy if he bought her a red rose she would escort him to the dance. This
hurt
the little boy because he knew that in the land of Tandow there had
never
been a red rose, in fact the only roses in the land of Tandow were
white. On
the way home the boy kept mumbling to himself why couldn't she have
asked
for a white rose. There were hundreds of them in his front yard.

Feeling sorry for himself the boy didn't even notice his friend the
humming
bird fluttering above him. Now the bird loved him so, that it could tell

instantly the boy was troubled.

The bird hovered closer as the boy mumbled on home. Now the bird knew
why
the boy was so troubled.

The bird could not rest all the night long, it pondered all night, a
solution to the boy's problem. finally as the sun began to rise the
answer
to how the bird could help his best friend entered his mind.

The little blue humming bird flew to a rose bush and searched for a
large
rose with a stem bearing thorns directly above it. Now the bird chose a
thorn and with all the power in his wings cast his small body against
the
sharp thorn. It entered with great pain, as the tear drops of blood fell

upon the white petals of the rose.

Now as the boy was ready for school, as he left the house he saw a red
rose,
he could hardly believe it, he ran to the bush and plucked the red rose.
In
his excitement he failed to notice the lifeless little body that lay
below
the bush in a puddle of blood. Happy as could be, he began with his red
rose
on his way to school. Before he got there some other boys playing
football
in a field called to him and asked him to come and play. His first
thought
was, no he had something more important to do. But they begged him and
said
they really needed him to even the teams. He looked at the rose, then
them,
then back at the rose. He said to himself. Ah!!! she didn't really want
to
go with me anyway. Then throwing the rose down the boy went and played
football.

God's Helping Hands

Just say Hi to those you meet,
whether in stores or on the street.
It will distract them from their worry,
even though they're in a hurry.

Just a smile upon your face
will change your next door neighbor's pace.
It will put a skip in their walk,
instead of silence they will want to talk.

Just a handshake can do much,
it gives a stranger a friendly touch.
You can give your love in many ways,
spreading sunshine all your days.

Just a little deed to help someone out,
can lift a burden there's no doubt.
Show your kindness everyday,
for our master will repay.

Just a prayer for those you know,
could help someone when they are low.
Our Lord hears and understands,
and we are God's, helping hands.

Just one thing and don't forget,
make sure God, and your neighbors have met.
Don't leave them hanging without a clue.
For them to know Jesus might depend on you.

Live by faith

He stood there watching me......all the times!
He was there when I cried......
He was there when I was alone......
He stood there when I took wrong decisions, to correct me......
He was there blessing me all the times......

I was in the shadow of the past not appreciating the present and not
respecting the future
I was in the valley of pains that no one gave... except me!
It is me who is a poison of my happiness...
It is only me who is important to me as I can feel others...only thru
me!!!

Today with all these lessons I feel Him beside me with every breath I
take
He stood beside me not for any recognition or any praises...
He stood, for His concern for me.
He was selfless and stood as my defender!

So Hey Lord, in this beautiful world I look up to you......
I shall pray...for your blessings and your everlasting Friendship!
I shall stand...for my words for you!
I shall wait...for all that you have for me!
I shall watch...for all those miracles you have for me...... ONLY ME!
I shall Pray, Stand, Wait and watch!

MY LORD, I SHALL LIVE BY THE FAITH, the faith in You!

Everyday Life

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they
are
meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson
or
help figure out who you are and who you want to become.

You never know who these people might be: your neighbor, child, long
lost
friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, when you lock your eyes
with
them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in
some
profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you and at the time they seem painful and

unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those
obstacles you would have never realized your potential strength,
willpower,
or heart. Everything happens for a reason.

Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness,
injury,
love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to
test
the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whether they be
events,
illness or relationships, life would be a smooth paved straight road to
nowhere, safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life and the successes and downfalls
you
experience create who you are, and even the bad experiences can be
learned
from, in fact they are probably the poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them,
for
they helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious
to
whom you open your heart....If someone loves you, love them back
unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are
teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would

have never seen or felt without them.

Make everyday count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything

that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it
again...
Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen, let

yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high.... Hold your
head up because you have every right to.

Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself... For
if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you
either. You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own
life, and then go out and live it!

I Wish...

Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman.
And wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two legs; the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two eyes; the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child I knew.
He stood and watched the others play,
but he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join them dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
I forgot, he couldn't hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two ears; the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Don't Forget To Bring Your Umbrella

One summer, a drought threatened the crop in a small town. On a hot and
dry
Sunday, the village pundit ji told villagers , There isn't anything that

will save us except to pray for rain. Go home, pray, believe, and come
back
next Sunday ready to thank God for sending rain.

The people did as they were told and returned to Mandir the following
Tuesday. But as soon as the pundit ji saw them, he was furious. We can't

worship today. You do not yet believe, he said. But, they protested, we
prayed, and we do believe. Believe he responded. Then where are your
umbrellas

The story applies to all of us. There are those people who leave their
umbrellas at home. Throughout their lives, they are merely hoping their
wishes and prayers will bear fruit, but they expect little.

Others expect their dreams and desires to come to pass. It is as if they

journey through life always prepared for something to happen.

Today, how will we approach that which we are yearning for Will we
expect
our prayers and work to bring about hoped-for results Will we bring our
umbrella.

UP!
There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more
meanings than any other two-letter word, and that
is "UP."

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky
or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the
morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?
Why do we speak UP and
why are the officers UP for election and
why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?
We call UP our friends.
And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver,
we warm UP the leftovers and
clean UP the kitchen.
We lock UP the house and
some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning.
People stir UP trouble,
line UP for tickets,
work UP an appetite, and
think UP excuses.
To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP
because it is stopped UP.
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!
To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP,
look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized
dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page
and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you
are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the
many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your
time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a
hundred or more.

When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.
When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.

One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP,
for now my time is UP, so ... Time to shut UP!

Don't Change the World

Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One
day,
he went for a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he was
back to
his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful, because it
was
the first time that he went for such a long trip, and the road that he
went
through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover
every
road of the entire country with leather. Definitely, this would need
thousands of cows' skin, and would cost a huge amount of money.

Then one of his wise servant dared himself to tell the king, "Why do you

have to spend that unnecessary amount of money ? Why don't you just cut
a
little piece of leather to cover your feet ?"

The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion, to make a

"shoe" for himself.

There is actually a valuable lesson of life in this story : to make this

world a happy place to live, you better change yourself - your heart;
and
not the world.

The Wooden Bowl

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and a
four-year
old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred,
and
his step faltered. The family ate together nightly at the dinner table.
But
the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating

difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the

glass often milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law
became irritated with the mess. "We must do something about
grandfather,"
said the son. I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and
food on
the floor. So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There,
grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner at the

dinner table. Since grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was
served in a wooden bowl. Sometimes when the family glanced in
grandfather's
direction, he had a tear in his eye as he ate alone. Still, the only
words
the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or
spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood
scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?"
Just
as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for you
and
mama to eat your food from when I grow up." The four-year-old smiled and

went back to work. The words so struck the parents that they were
speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no
word
was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took
grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table.

For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for

some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a
fork
was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. Children are
remarkably
perceptive. Their eyes ever observe, their ears ever listen, and their
minds
ever process the messages they absorb. If they see us patiently provide
a
happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that
attitude
for the rest of their lives. The wise parent realizes that every day
that
building blocks are being laid for the child's future.

Let us all be wise builders and role models. Take care of yourself, ...
and
those you love, ... today, and everyday!

Desiderata
By Max Ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, And remember what peace there may
be
in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with
all
persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even
the
dull & ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If
you
compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always
there
will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your
achievements as
well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real
possession
in the changing future of time. Exercise caution in your business
affairs;
for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what
virtue
there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is
full
of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for
in
the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take
kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of
youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do
not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue &
loneliness. Beyond wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you

have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt
the
universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and
whatever your labours & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep

peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is

still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

Things Work Out
By Edgar A. Guest

Because it rains when we wish it wouldn't,
Because men do what they often shouldn't,
Because crops fail, and plans go wrong-
Some of us grumble all day long.
But somehow, in spite of the care and doubt,
It seems at last that things work out.

Because we lose where we hoped to gain,
Because we suffer a little pain,
Because we must work when we'd like to play-
Some of us whimper along life's way.
But somehow, as day always follows the night,
Most of our troubles work out all right.

Because we cannot forever smile,
Because we must trudge in the dust awhile,
Because we think that the way is long-
Some of us whimper that life's all wrong.
But somehow we live and our sky grows bright,
And everything seems to work out all right.

So bend to your trouble and meet your care,
For the clouds must break, and the sky grow fair.
Let the rain come down, as it must and will,
But keep on working and hoping still.
For in spite of the grumblers who stand about,
Somehow, it seems, all things work out.

Three Men and A Temple

Truly powerful ambition, in an individual, carries others along with
him.
Ambition comes from a unique perspective on life. In some, it is limited
in
horizon. While some others can have a large-hearted, all-inclusive
ambition.
What is your type?

About a 1000 years ago, a sage was drawn to a construction site. He
watched
from the edge of a clearing in the forest as the workmen bent over their

individual tasks.

Finally his curiosity drove him to one workman at the edge of the site,
whom
he asked "What are you doing, my good man?" The workman looked up
briefly
and went back to his work "I'm working" he said curtly.

Not satisfied with the answer, the sage approached a second workman to
ask
him the same question. "You can see I'm breaking stones" he replied.

The sage was made of stern stuff and he wasn't leaving without an
answer, so
he walked over to a third workman with the question. "I'm building a
temple"
replied this workman smilingly.

The incident opened the sage's eyes, because all three of them were
breaking
boulders into smaller stones, but in their minds they were not doing the

same jobs.

The third workman was working for a cause much larger than himself and
it
showed in his approach to work.

You can just do a day's work, or build a career, a team, an
organization, or
a nation
An individual's overpowering ambition can be the glue that holds
together
and powers forward a team, an army or a country.

This has been proven time and again by various leaders from history.
Alexander The Great, and Gandhi are just two names from the past.

If we look at corporates today, examples abound of ambitious leaders who

built great institutions. Narayana Murthy of Infosys enjoys creating
millionaires in his organization. When he could have focused on making
himself a billionaire and then a trillionaire.

Those who share your ambitions should share its results
In the movies, treasure hunters and bank robbers fall out at the end,
and
one of them tries to make off with all the loot. The corporate
equivalent of
this goes on all around us.

The rewards of a whole team's work gets unfairly distributed. A leader
who's
in the business for the long haul, makes his people shareholders in the
fruits of their efforts.

Today, that seems to be the only way to build a lasting institution.
Grow
people at a rate that keeps them from striking out on their own.

Expand your ambition and your horizon
Grow the small pictures that others see, so your big picture gets
progressively even bigger. You can choose your perspective and your role
in
life. Be the one who builds the temple.
