An Angel For You

When darkness like a cloud descends
And banishes away the light
When days are just memories of past
Shattering heart to smithereens
When heaviness engulfs your soul
Crushing it with object unknown
Find h o p e in knowing
Through it all, you are not alone.

Rest your mind and feel the air mellow
Close your eyes and block all the sorrow
Look within you for the strength you have inside
To do it all again- tomorrow, a start afresh.

And then feel it- inside you, feel it- around you
A gentle hand that shall wipe away your tears-
And hold you close to wash away your fears.

For- there's an angel, watching over you
And no matter what tomorrow brings
You'll be wrapped under her angel wings.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous new year 2006.

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?
Or little sparrows splashing
and bathing in the small puddles?

Ever followed a
butterfly's erractic flight?
Or gazed at the sun
into the fading night?

Ever stood on open grounds
To let the winds blow through,
Your hair?

When you ask
How are you?
Do you hear the reply?

When the night falls
Do you sleep with the next
hundreds of chores
running in your mind?

Ever told your child ,
we'll do it tomorrow ?
And in your haste,
Not see her sorrow?

You Better Slow Down.
Don't Dance So FAST.
Time is short and
the music won't Last.

When we run so fast
to get soewhere.
We miss half the fun
of getting there.
When we worry and hurry
through our day,
It is like an unopened gift.....
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower,
Hear the music,
before the song is over.

We get one Life,
we live only once
So lets live it.
Happily and Lively.

The Oceans Shore

As I walk along the oceans shore...
The feeling of peace, longing for more...
As I sit upon soft wet sand...
The gentle waves, touch my hand...
This Aura of wonder and tranquility...
Stretching as far as my eyes can see...
Watching the reflections move with the flow.

Feeling the comfort, of its inner glow...
Oh how I wish, this feeling would stay...
As I know I must walk away...
Wish I could leave all the hurt, pain and tears...
Behind me along, with all my fears...
Wouldn't it be nice, if we could leave on that shore...
Feelings that keep in our hearts, ever more...
If I wrote them in the sand, would they be swept away?

By the waves crashing in, Gone on their way...
Leaving us free, of DOUBTS and DESPAIR...
The ocean will handle them, then we won't care...
The ocean can be such a beautiful place...
As our minds wonder in and out of space.

I think that I already know....
We reap whatever we did sow...
I will keep looking, forever more...
But not what I wrote,on that OCEANS SHORE.....

Flowers on the Bus

We were a very motley crowd of people who took the bus every day that
summer
33 years ago. During the early morning ride from the suburb, we sat
drowsily
with our collars up to our ears, a cheerless and taciturn bunch.

One of the passengers was a small grey man who took the bus to the
centre
for senior citizens every morning. He walked with a stoop and a sad look
on
his face when he, with some difficulty, boarded the bus and sat down
alone
behind the driver. No one ever paid very much attention to him.

Then one July morning he said good morning to the driver and smiled
short-sightedly down through the bus before he sat down. The driver
nodded
guardedly. The rest of us were silent.

The next day, the old man boarded the bus energetically, smiled and said
in
a loud voice: "And a very good morning to you all!" Some of us looked
up,
amazed, and murmured "Good morning," in reply.

The following weeks we were more alert. Our friend was now dressed in a
nice
old suit and a wide out-of-date tie. The thin hair had been carefully
combed. He said good morning to us every day and we gradually began to
nod
and talk to each other.

One morning he had a bunch of wild flowers in his hand. They were
already
dangling a little because of the heat. The driver turned around
smilingly
and asked: "Have you got yourself a girlfriend, Charlie?" We never got
to
know if his name really was "Charlie", but he nodded shyly and said yes.

The other passengers whistled and clapped at him. Charlie bowed and
waved
the flowers before he sat down on his seat.

Every morning after that Charlie always brought a flower. Some of the
regular passengers began bringing him flowers for his bouquet, gently
nudged
him and said shyly: "Here." Everyone smiled. The men started to jest
about
it, talk to each other, and share the newspaper.

The summer went by, and autumn was closing in, when one morning Charlie
wasn't waiting at his usual stop. When he wasn't there the next day and
the
day after that, we started wondering if he was sick or -- hopefully --
on
holiday somewhere.

When we came nearer to the centre for senior citizens, one of the
passengers
asked the driver to wait. We all held our breaths when she went to the
door.

Yes, the staff said, they knew who we were talking about. The elderly
gentleman was fine, but he hadn't been coming to the centre that week.
One
of his very close friends had died at the weekend. They expected him
back on
Monday. How silent we were the rest of the way to work.

The next Monday Charlie was waiting at the stop, stooping a bit more, a
little bit more grey, and without a tie. He seemed to have shrinked
again.
Inside the bus was a silence akin to that in a church. Even though no
one
had talked about it, all those of us, who he had made such an impression
on
that summer, sat with our eyes filled with tears and a bunch of wild
flowers
in our hands.

No Charge For Love

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign
advertising
the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.
As
he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his
overalls.
He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy "one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his
neck,
"These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his
pocket,
he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. "I've
got
thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"
"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here,
Dolly!"
he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran
Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.
The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes
danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence,

the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.
Slowly
another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp
it
slid. Then in a some what awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling
toward the others, doing its best to catch up....
"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer
knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy.
He
will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs
would."

With that the little boy stepped back from thefence, reached down, and
began
rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel
brace
running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made
shoe.
Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too
well
myself, and he will need someone who understands."

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little
pup.
Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge," answered the farmer,
"There's
no charge for love."
"As it is there is a shortage of people in this world who can understand
the
meaning of love", concluded the farmer

To Touch The Heart

To touch the heart of someone dear -
though it might sometimes cause a tear
to fall or rest upon the cheek -
'Tis something we all should seek.

For often hearts not touched at all,
start hardening and shrinking small.
And then the time it takes to grow
A loving heart again - is very slow.

For hearts expand as those who care -
extend their love and - let us share
a moment, space or special phrase,
that eases pain on dreary days.
Or simply starts our lips to smile,
and brightens time for just a while.

The ways and kinds and means of sharing,
it seems to me - are based on caring.
And though we're often worlds apart,
You still can touch my tender heart.
You can make me smile or shed a tear,
And I'll remember you year after year.
YOU "touched" my heart and helped me grow.
Friend, I just thought I'd tell you so.

TIPS FOR BETTER LIVING

1. Start the day with a smile. A dull face makes others also unhappy.
Deem
the fresh day as another opportunity given to you by the merciful
creator to
lead a better life.

2. Patiently put up with minor troubles & inconveniences one has to face
daily - a little loss of money, comfort or denial of some of your
legitimate
rights & privileges. Good work never goes unrewarded; but may sometimes
be
delayed.

3. Lend a helping hand to the poor & suffering, knowing fully well that
by
serving them you are pleasing the creator.

4. Cultivate the habit of speaking truth at all times; this truth must,
however, be pleasing & not injuring others.

5. Exert yourself daily to minimize your desires, wants, possessions,
engagements & appointments; any addition can bring only additional
tension &
anxiety.

6. Understand & appreciate the truth that God is the true owner of
everything on earth & Heavens.

7. No person or thing really belongs to you. This understanding will
help
you to become less attached to yourself y our kith & kin, your home &
possessions.

8. When you see people better placed than yourself, let not feelings of
envy
& jealousy enter your heart; on the other hand, think of the millions in
the
world whose lot is far worse than yours.

9. Be courageous to admit your faults & mistakes; by confessing your
guilt &
lapses. Then your conscience becomes pure & your rise in the esteem of
the
creator.

10. Before retiring to bed, thank God for all His mercies shown to you
during the day & offer Him heartfelt prayers for a better tomorrow.

WORTH READING 20 Dec 2005

Each day, I promise myself not to try to solve all my life problems at
once
-- nor shall I expect you to do so;

Starting each day, I shall try to learn something new about me and about
you and about the world I live in, so that I may continue to experience
all things as if they had been newly born;

Starting each day, I shall remember to communicate my joy as well as my
despair, so that we can know each other better;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself to really listen to you and to
try to hear your point of view and to discover the least-threatening way
of giving you mine, remembering that we are both growing and changing in
a hundred different ways;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself that I am a human being and not
demand perfection of you until I am perfect, so you're safe;

Starting each day, I shall try to be more aware of the beautiful things
in our world -- I'll look at the flowers, I'll look at the birds, I'll
look at the children, I'll feel the cool breezes, I'll eat good food --
and I'll share these things with you;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself to reach out and touch you,
gently, with my words, my eyes and with my fingers, because I don't want
to miss feeling you;

Starting each day, I shall dedicate myself again to the process of being
a lover -- and then see what happens;

You know, I'm really convinced that if you were to define love, the only
word big enough to engulf it all would be "Life" -- Love is life-- in
all its aspects ... And if you miss love, you miss life!

Please don't!

Anger seeks revenge
Love seeks healing

Anger spouts lies
Love speaks truth

Anger shouts loud
Love whispers softly

Anger rips at the soul
Love saves the soul

Anger causes others pain
Love causes others joy

Anger stoops low to solve problems
Love looks for higher ground

Anger lays down the law
Love breaks down strongholds

Anger is senseless in its methods
Love strives to make sense of a senseless world

Anger echoes carelessness
Love reflects from a caring heart

Anger solves problems only in the mind
Love works wonders in heart, body, and soul

Anger ruins the world
Love saves the day

Anger darkens the spirit
Love brightens the world

Change Your Point of View
--- Joe Gracia

Imagine you're in London's Heathrow Airport. While you're waiting for
your
flight, you notice a kiosk selling shortbread cookies. You buy a box,
put
them in your traveling bag and then you patiently search for an
available
seat so you can sit down and enjoy your cookies. Finally you find a seat
next to a gentleman. You reach down into your traveling bag and pull out
your
box of shortbread cookies.

As you do so, you notice that the gentleman starts watching you
intensely.
He stares as you open the box and his eyes follow your hand as you pick
up
the cookie and bring it to your mouth. Just then he reaches over and
takes
one of your cookies from the box, and eats it! You're more than a little
surprised at this. Actually, you're at a loss for words. Not only does
he
take one cookie, but he alternates with you. For every one cookie you
take, he takes one.

Now, what's your immediate impression of this guy? Crazy? Greedy? He's
got
some nerve?! Can you imagine the words you might use to describe this
man
to your associates back at the office? Meanwhile, you both continue
eating
the
cookies until there's just one left. To your surprise, the man reaches
over
and takes it. But then he does something unexpected. He breaks it in
half,
and gives half to you. After he's finished with his half he gets up, and
without a word, he leaves.

You think to yourself, "Did this really happen?" You're left sitting
there
dumbfounded and still hungry. So you go back to the kiosk and buy
another
box of cookies. You then return to your seat and begin opening your new
box
of cookies when you glance down into your traveling bag. Sitting there
in
your bag is your original box of ookies -- still unopened.

Only then do you realize that when you reached down earlier, you had
reached into the other man's bag, and grabbed his box of cookies by
mistake.
Now
what do you think of the man? Generous? Tolerant? You've just
experienced a
profound paradigm shift. You're seeing things from a new point of view.

Is it time to change your point of view?

Now, think of this story as it relates to your life . Seeing things from
a
new point of view can be very enlightening. Think outside the box. Don't
settle for the status quo. Be open to suggestions. Things may not be
what
they seem.

Faith

The fields were parched and brown from lack of rain, and the crops lay
wilting from thirst. People were anxious and irritable as they searched
thesky for any sign of relief. Days turned into arid weeks. No rain
came.

The ministers of the local churches called for an hour of prayer on the
town
square the following Saturday. They requested that everyone bring an
object
of faith for inspiration.

At high noon on the appointed Saturday the townspeople turned out
en-masse
filling the square with anxious faces and hopeful hearts. The ministers
were
touched to see the variety of objects clutched in prayerful hands - holy
books, crosses, and rosaries.

When the hour ended, as if on magical command, a soft rain began to
fall.

Cheers swept the crowd as they held their treasured objects high in
gratitude and praise.

From the middle of the crowd one faith symbol seemed to overshadow all
the
others: A small nine-year-old child had brought an umbrella. When you do
something in life, have complete faith that you will definitely succeed.

Never do anything with half-mind. FAITH is a great foundation to build
your
life......

WORTH READING 14 Dec 2005

I Choose...

It's quiet. It's early. My coffee is hot. The sky is still black. The
world
is still asleep. The day is coming.

In a few moments the day will arrive. It will roar down the track with
the
rising of the sun. The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the
noise
of the day.

The calm of the solitude will be replaced by the pounding pace of the
human
race. The refuge of the early morning will be invaded by decisions to be
made and deadlines to be met.

For the next twelve hours I will be exposed to the day's demands. It is
now
that I must make a choice. Because of Calvary, I'm free to choose. And
so I
choose.

I choose love...
No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness, I choose
love.
Today I will love God and what God loves.

I choose joy...
I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the
temptation to be cynical... the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse
to
see
people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse
to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.

I choose peace...
I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.

I choose patience...
I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the
one
who takes my place, I'll invite him to do so. Rather than complaining
that
the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray. Instead of
clenching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and
courage.

I choose kindness...
I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for
they
are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God has treated me.

I choose goodness...
I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will be
overlooked before I will boast. I will confess before I will accuse.
I choose goodness.

I choose faithfulness...
Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their trust.
My associates will not question my word. My loved ones will not question
my love. And my children will never fear that their parent will not
come home.

I choose gentleness...
Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice, may
it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer.
If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.

I choose self-control...
I am a spiritual being. After this body is dead, my spirit will soar. I
refuse
to let what will rot, rule the eternal. I choose self-control.
I will be drunk only by joy. I will be impassioned only by my faith. I
will
be influenced only by God. I will be taught only by Christ.

I choose self-control.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
To these I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks.

If I fail, I will seek His grace. And then when this day is done, I will
place my head on my pillow and rest.

Life.. A Choice

I walk through a maze
A long winding road
Where there are many
Intersections and choices

I choose the Love Street
Here I give my heart
I give my attention
I give my all
And I am set free

I choose the Happy Street
Here I give my sadness
My doubts and my fears
I realize that there's
Not much I can do for tomorrow
But be happy for today

I choose the Praise Street
Where I thank my God
For the tears and the laughter
Because I know that
I go through it all
To make me stronger

If life is a choice
Then why do we choose
To hate than to love
To cry than to laugh
To see the clouds
Instead of the beautiful blue skies

When we have only one lifetime
Why do we choose to waste it
On memories of pain
Instead of embracing
The love and happiness
Just waiting to be found

I choose to love
I choose to give
I choose LIFE.......

Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Change

Thou the misty fear of mind,
thine the magic, the world can wind (into which the world is rolled up)
you the force that maketh the world,
you are graceful, fearless and bold. (the pleasant way changes happen,
the
indicrimination when changes need to happen)

your's the credit to make a saint a sinner, (Yes, people change!)
yet yours too is the power, to make him a saint!
the peace the war, the bad the good,
are all but the colours you paint The History. (the painting called the
History)

you make the winner soar,
you make the sorrow, painless anymore,
you take away the beauty of nature,
again to make us thirsty of that feature.

what the world is or feels it is,
what the world grows to or will cease
that all is your game played at ease,
you are the world, as long as it is! ( if it is!)

you made the monkeys talk ( Man - Monkey)
and the tadpoles walk (tads like in water later start on Soil)
you make the oceans stand (Time! The oceans move lands, Oceans dry up,
etc)
into those hills and mound.

A thousand colors flash,
saying "they are all yours",
but as you near,
all thats left is wants!!

The palace, the tent, all just went,
the beggar, the prophet all were sent,
then the king had not a penny, neither any did the commoner,
as long as they lived, How very different they were! (later the same
result)

all thats seen is only You!! (Afterall, Only change can be percieved-
remember the meaning of Tanmataras)
"and now we see and now we dont"!!! (the Graceful Transience!!)

Forgotten People

Forgotten faces lost in places
ones we never see
people that we used to know
some from our family tree,

Old folk's home or home for the old
a place where they can't stray
sitting waiting anticipating
the visitor that will not come today,

Huddled in groups like weary troops
they wonder what they have done
to be left for so long just wandering on
searching for the truth,

Sitting in day rooms not quite play rooms
I don't think they like it much
it is not the same as being at home
where there is that personal touch,

No one should be forgotten
just because they have aged
it could happen to you
then what would you do?

Nothing for it would be too late.

The Man Who Didn't Like The Sun

The man hated the bright burning thing in the sky. It hovered over him
all
day long, no matter where he went. He hated the Sun's harsh light, the
heat
it created and the shadows it cast on the earth around him.He felt like
the
sun was stealing something from him, separating him from things when
what he
craved was unity.

"At least at night everything looks the same," he thought. hat's why he
liked the darkness. The Sun had become his enemy.

One day, unable to stand it any longer, he decided to dig a hole to
protect
himself from the intolerable rays of sunlight. His skin, which had been
burned a deep brown, began to turn white again, and the shadows of day
ceased to annoy him. But then, sitting in his hole, he realized that the
sun
continued to flood his hiding place with light from above, and that his
shelter was even brighter than the land outside.

He went back to work and had soon dug himself a tunnel and a cave. And
there
he finally found protection from the Sun. He spent years in his hole,
meditating in solitude, in the coolness of the dark where the Sun never
penetrated. Up on the surface other men grew food and warmed themselves
in
the heat of the all-giving star. They saw the Sun as a good and
protecting
God. The Sun was their ally as they learned to tame its extremes. They
lived
through the seasons, one after the other.

All were thankful for the Sun's presence, all except for the man who
wanted
to avoid the light and the contrasts it created. In the end the poor
hermit
perished in his cave, in darkness, in the calmness and unity of the
shadows,
but desperate and alone.

And after he died the people didn't even have to dig a grave for him.

It was already there...

Moral of the Story:

Accepting people's differences, living with others and their strange
habits
and sometimes incomprehensible behaviour, can be difficult. We are often
tempted to retreat like a hermit into the calmness of home, into the
shadows. But life is composed of diversity, of exchange and of change.
When
you cut yourself off from your friends, your neighbours and your
community,
you also lose a part of yourself.

WORTH READING 5 Dec 2005

The Fatal Fortress

Once upon a time, a king, who read in a remote pattern of the scattered
stars that a great calamity would overtake him on a certain day and at a
particular hour. He, therefore, ordered a rock stronghold to be
constructed,
and when it was completed he had numerous armed guards posted outside.

On the day that the stars foretold his fate, he entered his fortress.
But
when he got inside, he found that he could still see daylight. He
located
the gap in the wall and filled it immediately to prevent misfortune from
entering. He enclosed himself completely, but by blocking out the last
opening against disaster, he also imprisoned himself without light or
air.
Needless to say, without air the king soon died. The stars had not lied,
after all.

There are countless building blocks that our minds use to construct our
personal prisons: anger, resentment, hate, feelings of inferiority,
guilt,
impatience, prejudice, anticipation of calamities. And our spirits can
be
suffocated by the fortresses of fear that we build around ourselves.

WORTH READING 2 Dec 2005

Generosity

Mahatma Gandhi went from city to city, village to village collecting
funds
for the Charkha Sangh. During one of his tours he addressed a meeting in
Orissa.

After his speech a poor old woman got up. She was bent with age, her
hair
was grey and her clothes were in tatters. The volunteers tried to stop
her,
but she fought her way to the place where Gandhiji was sitting. "I must
see
him," she insisted and going up to Gandhiji touched his feet.

Then from the folds of her sari she brought out a copper coin and placed
it
at his feet. Gandhiji picked up the copper coin and put it away
carefully.

The Charkha Sangh funds were under the charge of Jamnalal Bajaj. He
asked
Gandhiji for the coin but Gandhiji refused. "I keep cheques worth
thousands
of rupees for the Charkha Sangh," Jamnalal Bajaj said laughingly "yet
you
won't trust me with a copper coin."

"This copper coin is worth much more than those thousands," Gandhiji
said.
"If a man has several lakhs and he gives away a thousand or two, it
doesn't
mean much.

But this coin was perhaps all that the poor woman possessed. She gave me
all
she had. That was very generous of her. What a great sacrifice she made.
That is why I value this copper coin more than a crore of rupees."
