Make A Difference Today

A man was walking down the beach at sunset. As, he walked along, he saw
another man in the distance. He noticed this man kept leaning down,
picking
up something and throwing it out into the water, again and again. As, he
approached even closer, he noticed that the man was picking up starfish
that
had been washed up on the beach. He was throwing them back into the
water,
one by one.

Puzzled, he approached the man and said,
"Good Evening. I was wondering what you are doing."

"I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide
and
all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If, I don't throw
them back into the ocean, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen."

"But, there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't
possible
get to all of them. And, don't you realize this is probably happening on
hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you
can't
possibly make a difference?"

The man bent down and picked up yet another starfish, and threw it back
into
the ocean. With a smile he replied, "Made a difference to that one !!!"

Just remember, no matter how small the deed
it really does makes a difference.
Make a difference today.
Do something nice for someone else,
even if it's just sending this card to a friend and
letting them know somebody cares about them.

Live Again n Love Again!

For those tears n pain
For the shattered dream
For the darkness n heartache
For those sleepless nights.....

I lived again and I loved again
To seek that golden heart of mine
And the tender touch
And the eternal beauty within

I laughed again
As I never laughed before
For the joy n pleasure
For the Sunshine n rain

My heart is a rainbow
Now you will find all seven colors
As it waited l-o-n-g
For caring n supporting others

Unconditional is the gift
To love and to give
As you know now
Nothing forever persists

Whether to hold a grudge
Or a deep wounded ache
As time passes by
We forget and forgive

We live again we love again…………..

Commitment
                        By Olehile Fischer Thataone

I will never forget what my old headmaster told taught me. Normally when you
are only 15 years of age you do not remember most of the things that are
preached by your teachers. But, this particular story is one such lesson
that I will never forget. Every time I drift off course, I get reminded of
this story.

It was a normal Monday morning at an assembly, and he was addressing the
students on important things in life and about committing ourselves to what
is important to us. This is how the story went:

An old man lived in a certain part of London, and he would wake up every
morning and go to the subway. He would get the train right to Central
London, and then sit at the street corner and beg. He would do this every
single day of his life. He sat at the same street corner and begged for
almost 20 years.

His house was filthy, and a stench came out of the house and it smelled
horribly. The neighbors could not stand the smell anymore, so they summoned
the police officers to clear the place. The officers knocked down the door
and cleaned the house. There were small bags of money all over the house
that he had collected over the years.

The police counted the money, and they soon realized that the old man was a
millionaire. They waited outside his house in anticipation to share the good
news with him. When he arrived home that evening, he was met by one the
officers who told him that there was no need for him to beg any more as he
was a rich man now, a millionaire.

He said nothing at all; he went into his house and locked the door. The next
morning he woke up as usual, went to the subway, got into the train, and sat
at the street corner and continued to beg.

Obviously, this old man had no great plans, dreams or anything significant
for his life. We learn nothing from this story other than staying focused on
the things we enjoy doing, commitment.

We should remain true to our course; which may mean committing yourselves to
things that people around you would normally disapprove. Let nothing
distract us from being happy, let nothing else determine our fate, but
ourselves.

What makes us happy is what matters in the end, not what we acquire.

WORTH READING 19 Jan 2005

Self Discipline
By Nick Stunt

Self discipline must accompany the search for personal development.
Personal development must advance with self discipline as a key
component of
one’s life.

With greater personal development and awareness of ones own self (self
awareness), comes self discipline. A person of great power (greater self
awareness) without self discipline is nothing more than an undisciplined
boar at loose. Self discipline is the key to living a fulfilling life.

One must set to live a disciplined life; for without it, life is lived with
fury and madness, abusing the very gift of life. Self discipline is the rod
that steers knowledge to its rightful application.

Self discipline steers our thoughts to obtain the right knowledge for
rightful purposes. Knowledge gained without discipline is the beginning of
permanent destruction. Unless we learn the error of it, there is no sound
discipline to control that which we know. Knowledge, rather than being
constructive, becomes destructive in such people’s hands. There is no
meaning in personal development to them; for the focus of such people is
centred on destruction.

A key feature in knowledge guided by self discipline is the obvious glow of
self awareness displayed by a person. Such a person understands the
environment around him, and reacts to it accordingly, not in submission but
in the beauty of its silent rhythm, in completeness and wholeness, without
the loss of virtue and integrity of his self.

A self disciplined life displays greater levels of common sense and the use
of instinct to react to situations accurately. People without self
discipline lack common sense. For self discipline sharpens one’s awareness
of common sense and judgement.

Self discipline is taking control of your life, rather than letting
situations take over. It is taming yourself, to be more in control than to
be directed and controlled by factors around you. Know that everyone has
the
potential to be a greater value to society or a huge cost to society. It
all depends on self descipline in shaping up who you want to be to yourself
and to others.

Choose self descipline today.

Forever Love

Each year he sent her roses, and the note would always say,
I love you even more this year, than last year on this day.

My love for you will always grow, with every passing year.
She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear.

She thought, he ordered roses in advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know, that he would pass away.

He always liked to do things early, way before the time.
Then, if he got too busy, everything would work out fine.

She trimmed the stems and placed them in a very special vase.
Then, sat the vase beside the portrait of his smiling face.

She would sit for hours, In her husband's favorite chair.
While staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there.

A year went by, and it was to live without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude, that had become her fate.

Then, the very hour,
The doorbell rang, and there were roses sitting by her door.
She brought the roses in, and then just looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone, to call the florist shop.

The owner answered, and she asked him, if he would explain,
Why would someone would do this to her, causing her such pain?

"I know your husband passed away, more than a year ago,"
The owner said, "I knew you'd call, and you would want to know.

The flowers you received today, were paid for in advance.
Your husband always planned ahead, he left nothing to chance.

There is a standing order, that I have on file down here,
And he has paid, well in advance, you'll get them every year.

There also is another thing, that I think you should know,
He wrote a special little card...he did this years ago.

Then, should ever I find out that he's no longer here,
that's the card that should be sent to you the following year."

She thanked him and hung up the phone, her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly reached to get the card.

Inside the card, she saw that he had written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence, this is what he wrote...

"Hello my love, I know it's been a year since I've been gone.
I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to overcome.

I know it must be lonely, and the pain is very real.
Or if it was the other way, I know how I would feel.

The love we shared made everything so beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say, you were the perfect wife.

You were my friend and lover, you fulfilled my every need.
I know it's only been a year, but please try not to grieve.

I want you to be happy, even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses will be sent to you for years.

When you get these roses, think of all the happiness that we had together,
and how both of us were blessed.

I have always loved you and I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on, you have some living still.

Please...try to find happiness, while living out your days.
I know it is not easy, but I hope you find some ways.

The roses will come every year, and they will only stop,
When your door's not answered, when the florist stops to knock.

He will come five times that day, in case you have gone out.
But after his last visit, he will know without a doubt!

To take the roses to the place, where I've instructed him
and place the roses where we are, together once again.

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.

A NEW DAY

This is the beginning of a new day.
I have been given this day to use as I will.

I can waste it, or use it.
I can make it a day long to be remembered for its joy,
its beauty and its achievements,
or it can be filled with pettiness.
What I do today is important
because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever,
but I shall hold something which I have traded for it.

It may be no more than a memory,
but if it is a worthy one I shall not regret the price.

I want it to be gain not loss, good not evil, success not failure.

A SWEET LOVE STORY

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after
her,
while he was so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the
party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but
due to
being polite, she promised.

They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she
felt
uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home. suddenly he asked the
waiter: "would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my
coffee."

Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but, still, he
put
the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously : why you have
this hobby? He replied: "when I was a little boy, I was living near the
sea,
I liked playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea ,just like
the
taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always
think of my childhood, think of my home town, I miss my home town so
much, I
miss my parents who are still living there". While saying that tears filled
his eyes. She was deeply touched.

That's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can tell
out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home,
has
responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her far
away hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also
a beautiful beginning of their story.

They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all
her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such
a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to his salty coffee!

Then the story was just like every beautiful love story, the princess
married to the prince, then they were living the happy life...

And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the
coffee, as
she knew that's the way he liked it. After 40 years, he passed away, left
her a letter which said:" My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole
life lie. This was the only lie I said to you---the salty coffee. Remember
the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted
some sugar, but I said salt it was hard for me to change so I just went
ahead. I never thought that could be the start of our communication!

I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too
afraid to
do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything.. Now I'm dying,
I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don't like the
salty coffee, what a strange bad taste..But I have had the salty coffee for
my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for
you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can
live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole
life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again".

Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Someday, someone asked her: what's the taste of salty coffee?

It's sweet. She replied.

KINDNESS Pays!

There was once this guy who is very much in love with his girl. This
romantic guy folded 1,000 pieces of paper cranes as a gift to his girl.

Although, at that time he was just a small fry in his company, his future
doesn't seem too bright, they were very happy together. Until one day, his
girl told him she was going to Paris and will never come back. She also
told
him that she cannot visualize any future for the both of them, so they went
their own ways there and then...

Heartbroken, the guy agreed. But when he regained his confidence, he worked
hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to m ake something out
of himself.

Finally with all the hard work and the help of friends, this guy had set up
his own company ...

You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was
driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain
walking to
some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It
didn't take him long to realize they were his girl's parents.

With a heart in getting back at them, he drove slowly beside the couple,
wanting them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know
that he
wasn't the same any more; he had his own company, car, condo, etc. He made
it! What he saw next confused him, the couple was walking towards a
cemetery, and so he got out of his car and followed...and he saw his
girl, a
photograph of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her tombstone and he
saw his paper cranes right beside her...

Her parents saw him. He asked them why this had happened. They explained,
she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had
believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his
obstacle... therefore she had chosen to leave him. Just because someone
doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you
with all they have. She had wanted her parents to put his paper cranes
beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings him to her
again...he
can take some of those back with him...

Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may
escape but what's in your heart will rem ain forever.

The guy just wept...The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right
beside her knowing you can't have her, see her or be with her ever
again.........hope you understand.

Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you, for
you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant
nothing to you.

Powerful Ways to Expand Your Life

This Year Define your future Think bigger than yourself.
An acorn that only thinks as an acorn will never become a mighty oak.
Stretch yourself. You are capable of more than you ever dreamed is possible
for you,
says Wayne Dyer

Describe the life you’d like to live. The future you see defines the person
you’ll need to be. Identify the traits and qualities you’d like to acquire.
Think bigger than yourself. An acorn that only thinks as an acorn will
never become a mighty oak. Stretch yourself. You are undoubtedly capable
of more than you ever dreamed is possible for you.

Become the person who would achieve your goals

As you develop the skills, knowledge, relationships and demeanour of the
‘future you’, your goals will be the natural byproduct of your growth.
Spend an extra hour each day in the study of your chosen field.

Give more than you must

Nothing advances until somebody does more than they are paid to do. Always
deliver more value than others expect. Don’t require others to acknowledge
your generosity. Give with ‘class’.

Make time for what you love

If you don’t live fully, you deny the world your potential contributions.
Your ‘play’ sometimes contributes as much as your ‘work’. What you love
reveals the value you bring to the world.

Refine your inner circle

We define ourselves through our key relationships. Explore the mix and
depth of those with whom you spend most of your time. Release those who
limit you and connect with those who can help you live more fully.

Resolve your unfinished business

Either deal with it or discard it. Say your apologies, face your fears,
pay your debts, express your gratitude and get on with living. Don’t let
yesterday drain value from today and tomorrow. Break out of the limited
world of your past and start to grow.

Rethink existing habits and routines

Describe your typical day and then reconsider every aspect of it. Change
or expand the places you go, people you see, things you do, and the time
you devote to each. Try new things. Learn a new language, go some place
different, do some things you’d typically pass by. Find out what your
possibilities
really are.

Lighten up

Stop stressing over things that only matter to you emotionally. When life
isn’t fair to you, get over it quickly. Take your misfortunes as ‘course
corrections’ rather than ‘catastrophes’. Let go so you can grow.

Tighten up

Sloppiness in life allows more variables to creep in and spoil your plans.
Stay on target, increase your self-discipline, master the art of
self-motivation.
Sometimes details matter a lot.

Profile yourself

Keep a journal of your goals, concerns, fears, and dreams. Review it at
least once a year. Look for patterns that reveal your core values, natural
velocity, natural intelligences and recurring situations. Realise how life
ebbs and flows for you. Notice the natural cycles of life. Know yourself.

Invest in yourself

Set aside a portion of each year’s income to acquire new tools and teachers
to increase your potential. Refine your systems, get expert coaching, attend
special conferences, cultivate a study group, appoint a board of advisors.
You are your only true asset. Send part of today ahead to the person you’ll
be in the future.

Is Life Being Unfair On You...

Around two weeks ago I was called to judge a talent contest at one of the
city colleges. I noticed all the participants were given slips of paper
with
a topic written on it and told to come up and speak for three minutes. Lots
were drawn as to who would be the first speaker and the next and the next.
The first contestant I noticed looked a little disgruntled as he got onto
the podium to address the others.

"My fellow students and respected judges," he said loudly, "this is an
unfair contest!"

I, along with my fellow judges looked up surprised. "I have been given this
paper," he continued, "to speak on a subject with just a few minutes
preparation whereas those after me have more time to work on their speech.
This is unfair!" He then proceeded to leave the stage and stormed out of
the
hall. Nobody missed him and the contest went on smoothly.

I met him on the landing as I was being escorted out later.

"Who said life is fair?" I asked him with a smile. He looked at me startled
and I asked him to walk with me to my car. "Life," I told him, "is fighting
the unfair and still winning! Do you read automobile magazines?"

"Yes," he said eagerly, "I do."

"Have you seen statistics shown when a new car is being introduced into the
market? They talk about speed and torque and transmission and horse power."

"Yes," he nodded.

"But there is a line they put after all these figures. They say all this
data is when there are ideal road conditions!"

"Yes," he said again.

"Show me ideal road conditions?" I asked him and he smiled. "The car that
sells well," I continued is the car that will deliver power and speed and
durability in the worst of roads, in potholes and mud and slush. That
car is
a winner!"

We had reached my car and he stood by my side as I heaved myself in. "Don't
look for ideal playing conditions," I said. "Fight the unfair and come
out a
winner!" I looked back in my rear view mirror as I drove away and saw him
smile and wave and knew he would fight the unfair from now on.

The fight never stops. Ask all the successful people in our own country.
They fight regardless whether the battle is fair or unfair. Stop telling
the
world about the unfair deal you've got out of life; start battling the
unfair, come out victorious..!

90/10 Principle
By: Steven Covey

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of
life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control
over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The
plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may
cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is
different. You determine the other 90%. How? By your reaction. You cannot
control a red light. However, you can control your reaction. Do not let people
fool you; YOU can control how you react. Let us use an example: You are eating
breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your
business shirt. You have no control over what just what happened. What happens
when the next will be determined by how you react? You curse. You harshly scold
your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After
scolding her, you tu
rn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of
the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your
shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to
finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must
leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to
school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed
limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at
school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After
arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your
day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You
look forward to coming home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your
relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why? Because of how you reacted in
the morning. Why did you have a bad day?A) Did the c
offee cause it? B) Did your daughter cause it? C) Did the policeman cause it? D)
Did you cause it?The answer is? DYou had no control over what happened with the
coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is
what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your
daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need, to be
more careful next time". Grabbing a towel, you rush upstairs. After grabbing a
new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the
window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5
minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the
day you are having. Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started
the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was
determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If
someone says something negative about you, do not be a sponge. Let the attack
roll off like water on glass. You do not have to let the negative comment affect
you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result
in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc. How do you react if
someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering
wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off.Do you curse? Does your
blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try to bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten
seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive. Remember the 90/10
principle, and do not worry about it. You are told you lost your job. Why lose
sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time
into finding another job. The plane is
late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your
frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on.
Use your time to study or get to know the other passenger. Why are you stressed
out? It will just make things worse. Now you know the90-10 principle. Apply it
and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The
90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle. The
result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials,
problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle. It
CAN change your life!

WORTH READING 5 Jan 2005

The other day I had the opportunity to drop by my department head's
office. He's a friendly guy and on the rare opportunities that I
have to pay him a visit, we have had enjoyable conversations.
While I was in his office yesterday I asked him "Sir, What is the
secret of your success?"

He said "Two words."

"What are they?"

"Right decisions."

"But how do you make right decisions?"

"One word." he responded.

"What is that?"

"Experience."

"And how do you get Experience?"

"Two words"

"What are they?"

"Wrong decisions"

You Learn

After a while, you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts,
And presents aren't promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open,
With the grace of an adult
Not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while, you learn that
Even the sunshine burns if you get too much.

So plant your own garden
Decorate you own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure…
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth.
And you learn and learn.
With every good-bye you learn.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Wishing you and your family a happy and prosperous new year.
May the new years brings all the happiness you have wished for.
With Warm Regards,
